Ten bidders participated in the tender, seven consortiums and three companies, yet only five of them tendered. The price range was not significant. At PLN 1.126 billion, the lowest sum for the construction of 18 km of high speed road was required by Bilfinger Polska and Wakoz, who carried out the earthworks on the Baltic Arena construction. The highest price was PLN 1.347 billion.
It seems that the southern ring-road developer, in other words, the Gdańsk division of the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways, will save PLN 900 million.

“Initially, the construction was estimated at PLN 1.2 billion,” admits Piotr Michalski, spokesman of the Gdańsk division of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. “Then, bearing in mind soaring prices, we had to verify the cost estimate. At the time, we determined that the project would exceed PLN 2 billion,” he explains.


Even though the prices required by the companies for constructing the ring-road were made public, the offers are still being verified. However, if it turns out that there are no formal or legal shortcomings in the lowest offer, Bilfinger Berger and Wakoz will build the road connecting the Tri-City Ring-Road with national road No. S7.
